SOMERVILLE, NJ - Members of Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 27 attended a recent meeting of the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders to thank the county officials for their continued support of veterans and the MOPH.

In October 2016, the Freeholders were joined by MOPH Chapter 27 members in dedicating a series of “Purple Heart County” signs around the county complex in Somerville and in several other towns.

The Purple Heart Cities and Counties are part of a nationwide initiative that pays tribute to our brave military personnel who have been wounded or killed in action.

Somerset County is the only county in New Jersey that has applied for and received “Purple Heart County” status; Hillsborough Township is a “Purple Heart City.”
