CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Left-handed pitcher Rick Teasley set a season-high with nine strikeouts but the Long Island Ducks (14-15) rallied in the bottom of the ninth for the second-straight night to defeat the Somerset Patriots (18-12) 4-3 Saturday night at Bethpage Ballpark.

Long Island opened the scoring on an Alex Burg (4) solo home run to left in the bottom of the fifth inning. They later doubled their lead in the eighth on a two-out RBI Anthony Vega RBI single to left field.

Somerset rallied to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth against Cy Young award-winner Eric Gagne. Carlos Guzman roped a two-run triple down the right-field line to tie the game before an Adam Donachie RBI single put the Patriots in front.

The Ducks answered with two runs in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI double from Marc Krauss to tie the game and a run-scoring error off the bat of Giovanny Alfonzo to win it.

Ducks starter Dennis O’Grady carried a no-hitter into the top of the eighth before Donachie broke up the bid with a base hit to center field.

Teasley did not factor into the decision after he allowed two runs over 7.2 innings on five hits and nine strikeouts.

“You always want to get the ‘W’ for the team, but I just wanted to take it one pitch at a time,” said Teasley. “I felt good in my bullpens, felt good in my workouts during the week, and just tried to keep everything in sync.”

Zac Treece (3-1) earned the win with a scoreless two-thirds of an inning. Ronnie Shaban (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning.

Somerset concludes its series against Long Island Sunday afternoon. Right-handed pitcher David Kubiak (2-2, 2.45 ERA) takes the mound for the Patriots against Ducks righty Tim Melville (1-2, 3.19 ERA). First pitch at Bethpage Ballpark is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.

Tickets to the 2017 Somerset Patriots season, which includes the team’s 20th anniversary, are on sale now. TD Bank Ballpark will be the host of the 2017 Atlantic League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 12th. For more information, stop by the ballpark, call (908) 252-0700, or visit www.somersetpatriots
