Photo of Hillsborough Food Store Employees Featured on Cereal Boxes

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – Employees at ShopRite supermarkets in six states have raised $1.3 million to support food banks in their local communities, including the ShopRite store in Hillsborough.

The store raised $14,395 and selected Lynette Byrne of Hillsborough and Sebastian Haag of Belle Mead to be featured on 150,000 special-edition Cheerios boxes in recognition of for their store’s participation in the food collection drive. The box was unveiled during a ceremony at the store last week.

The annual Partners in Caring Cheerios contest is sponsored by ShopRite and General Mills.

Each winning store was awarded funds - $3,000 for the top 5 stores, and $500 for the remaining winning stores - that will be presented to local food pantries chosen by their store team.

“The 81 ShopRite associates featured on this year’s special-edition Cheerios Box represent the caring and compassion that has come to symbolize the fight against hunger and the commitment of ShopRite Partners In Caring,” said Christine Magyarits, spokesperson for ShopRite Partners In Caring.

Since 1999, the program has raised $40 million in food donations for 2,000 charities..
