FLEMINGTON, NJ – Thousands flocked to Stangl Road here yesterday to join in the kick-off of the Central Jersey Jazz Festival, an event that will continue today in New Brunswick from 1 to 6 p.m. and in Somerville on Sunday, also from 1 to 6 p.m.

As with the Flemington show, all performances are free. Those attending should supply their own chairs. Food vendors are available at all three locales.

The Flemington show was produced by the Flemington Community Partnership and Sheila E. Anderson, an author and on-air personality of WBGO, Jazz 88.3.

The Festival has a big following. Many raised their hands when Anderson asked how many would be attending all three events. The crowd was also responsive when Anderson asked it to help her with what has become a tradition: a selfie she takes from the stage showing the audience in the background. There were smiles and waves all around from the warm Hunterdon crowd.

The concerts are performed rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather conditions, notification of any changes will be made by 5 p.m. the day prior to each of the three dates on the website and Facebook.
