Police Respond to Reports of Shots Fired at Manville Bar

MANVILLE, NJ - Police received 9-1-1 calls reporting a fight in progress and shots fired in Manville Saturday, shortly after midnight according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. 

Police say a call to 911 reported a fight was in progress at approximately 12:20 am at Foxtails Lounge, 39 South St..   

"Additional 911 calls were received reporting hearing shots fired," Somerset County Prosecutor, Michael H. Robertson said. "Prior to the arrival of patrol units, the crowd dispersed. Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene Unit, as well as the Manville Borough Police Department, responded to the scene."

Robertson said the investigation is ongoing. 

Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Manville Borough Police Chief Mark A. Peltack request anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information pertaining to this incident to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit by calling Somerset County Communications at (908) 526-2500 or the Manville Police Department. Reports can also be made on the STOPit app.

Somerset County Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Grace Gurisic, First Woman Freeholder

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Somerset County will fly its flags at half-staff July 12 in memory of Grace A. Gurisic, who served as the county’s first woman freeholder more than half a century ago.
