Season Over: Patriots Lose to Ducks in Playoffs

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Long Island Ducks (3-1) defeated the Somerset Patriots (1-3) 4-3 at TD Bank Ballpark in Game Four of the Liberty Division Series. With the victory, the Ducks have won the Liberty Division Championship and will advance to the Atlantic League Championship Series against the York Revolution.

The Ducks regained the lead in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI fielder’s choice by Giovanny Alfonzo for the 4-3 final.

Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Carlos Guzman and Yovan Gonzalez each hit two-out RBI singles to tie up the game at 3-3.

“When you come here and play in Somerset, it’s all about fight and character and we showed that tonight,” said Guzman, who finished the game 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

The Ducks took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an error and an RBI single by Giovanny Alfonzo.

Long Island added a run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Angelo Songco for a 3-0 advantage.

Somerset cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning on an infield RBI single by Guzman.

Amalio Diaz (1-0) picked up the win with a scoreless 1.1 innings pitched. Dustin Antolin (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing a run in 0.2 innings pitched.
