Second Suspect Arrested, Held for Dumping Body on Route 22 Median

SOMERVILLE, N.J.- A woman wanted in connection with dumping a body on the Route 22 median in Branchburg March 29 was arrested at a New Brunswick motel on Wednesday, April 19, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Nicole Barbour, 26, of Hillside Road, Ringwood, was tracked down to the Red Carpet Inn by detectives from several agencies.

She has been charged with second degree, disturbing human remains and is lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

She is the second suspect arrested in connection with the unlawful disposing and concealing of Ashley M. Castro’s body.

David DeSantos, 32, of Henryville, Pa., has also been charged with disturbing human remains, second degree. DeSantos was arrested Friday, April 7 at 11 p.m. in a  residence in High Bridge on an outstanding fugitive warrant from Pennsylvania.

Robertson said that during the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 29, DeSantos and Barbour moved Castro from a Route 22 motel and concealed her body in the center median near the Route 28 intersection amongst bushes, trees, and high grass.

Branchburg Police found the body after receiving a phone tip.
