Somerset Patriots Host Holiday Toy Collection Dec. 9

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The US Marines will be on hand Saturday as the Somerset Patriots and Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle host the team's annual Holiday Toy Drive at TD Bank Ballpark from 10 am-noon.

The donated toys will be collected and distributed by the US Marines Toys for Tots program.

Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to the Patriots' Team Store located at the ballpark throughout the day.

Lyle will be at the event to meet fans, sign autographs, and take pictures.

The Patriots will welcome Santa Claus, who will take pictures with children at the ballpark; fans will also have the opportunity to take photos and get autographs from team mascot Sparkee and his pal Slider.

 “This is a special holiday event that we always look forward to each year. We have a tremendous group of fans that help us collect hundreds of toys for those less fortunate and help bring a little holiday cheer to those who need it, ” said Patrick McVerry, president/general manager of the Patriots.

The Patriots will also host a Holiday Kickoff for Somerset Sluggers Kids Club members. Somerset Sluggers will be able to participate in special holiday activities and much more at the event. There will be holiday themed snacks available for all participants.

Somerset County Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Grace Gurisic, First Woman Freeholder

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Somerset County will fly its flags at half-staff July 12 in memory of Grace A. Gurisic, who served as the county’s first woman freeholder more than half a century ago.
