HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - More than 100 high school students from the Seventh Congressional District gathered at the township's municipal complex last weekend to brainstorm legislation that would impact topics they care about deeply, with the opportunity to present those ideas to Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-7th.
The gathering was the inaugural Youth Advisory Council meeting organized by Malinowski.
At the end of the day students had the opportunity to present their legislative solutions to a variety of issues facing the country including: green infrastructure, voting rights, social media regulation, immigration reform, and foreign policy. The YAC will convene again at the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
Malinowski represents over 744,000 residents in the Seventh Congressional District, which is the wealthiest in New Jersey with an average household income exceeding $98,000 and includes all of Hunterdon County, and parts of Essex, Morris, Somerset, Union, and Warren counties.
