BEDMINSTER, NJ – The Somerset County Business Partnership and The Center for Contemporary Art will host a “Business Builders Breakfast” and workshop focused on sexual harassment in the workplace on Tuesday, Feb. 27 beginning at 8 a.m. at The Center for Contemporary Art, 2020 Burnt Mills Road.
The 90-minute event, “Sexual Harassment & Rules of the Modern Workplace,” tackles the enormity of this issue
The U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC) defines workplace sexual harassment as “unwelcome sexual advances or conduct of a sexual nature which unreasonably interferes with the performance of a person's job or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment. Sexual harassment can range from persistent offensive sexual jokes to inappropriate touching to posting offensive material on a bulletin board.”
The session will further define sexual harassment, discuss what actions cross the line, and what to do as a victim. Presenters are Keya Denner, Esq., of Norris, McLaughlin, & Marcus, P.A. and Joelle Piercy of Safe+Sound Somerset.
Denner regularly handles discrimination matters before state and federal administrative agencies in New York and New Jersey. Piercy is the Community Outreach Coordinator at Safe+Sound Somerset, a non-profit organization that empowers survivors of domestic abuse and engages the community to break the cycle of violence.
The pre-registration fee for the breakfast session is $10 for Business Partnership members and $30 for non-members. Day of event fee is $15 for Business Partnership members and $40 for non-members.
