PRINCETON, NJ - State Assemblymen Andrew Zwicker and Roy Freiman (D-Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset) have received the endorsements of three public safety unions.- the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, The New Jersey Police Benevolent Association and The New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association for reelection in the 16th Assembly District in central New Jersey.Nov. 5th.
“I would like to thank the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, the New Jersey Police Benevolent Association, and The New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association for their endorsements again this year,” Zwicker said. “Firefighters and law enforcement members selflessly devote themselves to public safety and are an integral component of our communities. I am honored to have their support and proud to advocate for public policies that promote the needs and safety of these brave men and women.”
Zwicker is a resident of Rocky Hill.
Freiman, who lives in Hillsborough added, “to have the support of the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, the New Jersey Police Benevolent Association, and The New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association again this year is not something that I take for granted.
"Firefighters, law enforcement and their families are paramount to the safety of our communities," Freiman added. The two Democrats are running against Republican challengers Mark Caliguire, a former Somerset County freeholder who ran unsuccessfuly against Zwicker in 2017 and former Montgomery Mayor Christine Madrid. Caliguire also lives in Montgomery.
The 16th District includes the Hunterdon County municipalities of Delaware Township, Flemington Borough, Raritan Township, Readington Township and Stockton Borough; the consolidated Mercer County municipality of Princeton; the Middlesex County municipality of South Brunswick Township; and the Somerset County municipalities of Branchburg Township, Hillsborough Township, Manville Borough, Millstone Borough, Montgomery Township, Rocky Hill Borough and Somerville Borough.
