Peter Mayer "Stars & Promises" Tour Stops in Somerville for Holiday Concert Dec. 8

 Peter Mayer will appear live in concert at Somerville’s United Reformed Church on Friday, Dec. 8, presenting the annual Stars & Promises Holiday Concert.  

SOMERVILLE, NJ – The 2017 Stars & Promises Holiday Concert featuring Peter Mayer, lead guitarist for Jimmy Buffet’s Coral Reefer Band, is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 8 at the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main St. beginning at 7:30 p,m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This is the 10th year "Stars & Promises" will perform at the church. The annual holiday musical event has raised thousands of dollars for various non-profit agencies in Somerset County. The 2017 beneficiaries will be the Somerville Educational Foundation to provide funds for creative and innovative programs in the areas of art, theater, and music for students of the Somerville Public Schools and the Ray Bateman Scholarship for Somerville students planning to attend Raritan Valley Community College and major in the arts.

Mayer, a vocalist, guitarist, and long-time member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, travels with a world-class ensemble of musicians that are electrifying in live performance. The group covers a wide array of musical styles, moving effortlessly between folk, bluegrass, Celtic, jazz and classical notes with instruments that include piano, guitar, mandolin, violin, native flute, upright bass, drums and percussion.

The 2017 Stars and Promises theme is “When You Come Home,” featuring a collection of timeless carols, original songs, and stories which celebrate the magical Christmas season when families come together from near and far to share gifts of peace, joy, faith and love.
