Sen.. Doherty Meets with Somerset County Business Leaders

State Sen. Michael Doherty R-23 will meet with Somerset County business leaders May 25 in Somerville.

SOMERVILLE,  NJ – The Somerset County Employers Legislative Committee (ELC) will host District 23 Senator Michael J. Doherty at a luncheon scheduled for Friday, May 25 at Verve Bistro, Bar, & Lounge, 18 East Main St. from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Doherty will be discussing his priorities for the Somerset County business community in 2018.

“Sen. Doherty’s life experience and legislative experience contribute to making him a very effective leader in the Senate,” said Carol Bianchi, co-chair of the Somerset County ELC.

“As a patent attorney, he is very familiar with the needs of business in New Jersey. Listening to representatives of the Somerset County business community will allow him to carry our concerns and ideas to Trenton.”

The 23rd District covers parts of Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren counties.

Doherty is a graduate of West Point and Seton Hall University School of Law. He served in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1989 and the U.S. Army Reserve from 1989 to 1993, earning the rank of captain.

He was elected to the General Assembly in 2002, serving until 2009 when he was elected to the New Jersey Senate. He currently serves on the Education and Judiciary Committees of the Senate.
