HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - In a little more than a year, if all goes according to plan, the mountains of dirt, heavy-duty construction vehicles and chain link fence on Route 206 - across from the Hillsborough Centre shopping plaza - will be gone,

Larken Associates has broken ground on Hillsborough Village Center, a mixed-use project comprised of 191 luxury apartments and ground-level retail stores.

Roughly 25 percent of the apartments will be designated as affordable housing units, according to Mayor Doug Tomson which will be rented at below-market rates to those who qualify,

Slated for occupancy in mid-2021, the project will consist of 12 buildings in the heart of Hillsborough’s business district, just south of the Route 206/Amwell Road intersection.

There will be nine multi-family buildings comprised of one, two and three-bedroom units and three mixed-use buildings with 28,000 square feet of ground level retail and apartments on the upper floors.

Hillsborough Village Center’s one-, two- and three-bedroom elevator and duplex garage apartments feature a variety of open-concept floor plans, in-unit laundry, and modern fixtures for tenants to select. Te nine residential buildings will feature private garages for each tenant and on-site storage.

Additional amenities at the luxury mixed-use community include a two-story clubhouse featuring a business center, game room and theater for tenants to enjoy. The stand-alone community center will also include odoor heated pool and spa. Other community amenities will include a fully equipped gym and fitness center, playground, a dog park and pet salon, as well as a secure mailroom with a package concierge system.
