Hillsborough HS Marching Band Parents and HS Choir Host Fund Raisers



HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Back-to-back fund raisers to help the music programs at Hillsborough High School will be held Saturday, Jan. 20 and Sunday, Jan. 21.

The Hillsborough Band Parents Association, a non-profit organization is hosting a Used Clothing collection at the front entrance of the high school on Raider Boulevard Jan. 20 from 10 a.m.-noon.

The High School Choir will host a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee’s, 315 Route 206 on Jan. 21 from 8-10 a.m., with choir members serving the tables and singing for their customers.

In addition to used clothing – all seasons, all ages, packed in well-tied bags – the Band Parents will also accept shoes, which must be packed separately from the clothing; accessories like purses, hats, scarves, gloves, ties, backpacks and briefcases; baby accessories, including bottles, bowls and sipping cups; linens, including blankets, sheets, pillows, comforters, table cloths, curtains and towels, and toys.

Toys under 14 inches must be boxed separately. Soft toys accepted include stuffed animals, rag dolls and Beanie Babies; hard toys accepted include cars, trucks, action figures, Legos, blocks and beach toys. CDs and DVDs can also be donated, but must be in cases; no loose discs will be accepted.

Items not accepted are books, large outdoor toys, strollers, high chairs, bouncer chairs, art supplies, board games, furniture, rugs or bikes.

Donations are tax deductible; donations receipts will be available.

This is a monthly event, with future collections tentatively scheduled for Feb. 10; March 10 and April 14.

Advance registration is suggested for the Flapjack Breakfast, with only a limited number of tickets available at the door.

Breakfast includes pancakes,, sausage, eggs and juices. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online by email, or by calling (908) 230-2398.

United Way Holds Free Tax-a-Thon Feb. 2 & 3

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Low- and moderate-income residents can get their taxes filed during Northern New Jersey United Way’s free tax-a-thon event Feb. 2 and 3 which will include popcorn, prizes and children’s face painting.

Held at United Way’s Bridgewater office, 1011 Route 22 West, Suite 202, the sessions will take place by appointment only from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
