STS is hoping to raise $2,000 to honor Graf's legacy and install a bench with a memorial plaque within the Somerset County Park system.

"The symbol will honor the tremendous contributions that John made to serve his beloved Somerset County community," said Father Ron Pollock, pastor of Reformed Church and president of Somerset Treatment Services.

The "Ministerman" presided at hundreds of weddings, funerals and other occasions.

Graf had served as president of the STS board. He was honored as Citizen of the Year by the Somerset County Business Partnership in 2002 and as the SCBP Business Volunteer of the Year in 1999.

He served in the administration of Gov. Christie Whitman, served on the Raritan Valley Community College Board of Trustees from 2009-2013 and was the CED of the Somerset County United Way.

"Should we exceed that goal, those funds would support the work of the agency he served for over two decades providing SA disorder and HIV care to our county's neediest clientele," said Barbara Schlicting, executive director of STS.

Donations can be sent to the STS office at 118 West End Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876. Further information is available by calling (908) 722-1232.
