HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Mayor Doug Tomson is exploring the possibility of proposing a resolution at the next Township Committee meeting that would extend the grace period for May, 2020 tax payments and certain special assessments.

“Given the circumstances we are facing with COVID-19, as a municipality we are limited by state statute in what we are able to do, however, given these unprecedented times we believe this is a situation in which we need to seek assistance for all of our residents,” Tomson said in Wednesday’s Special daily bulletin released by the Township.

The proposed resolution for consideration at the April 14th Township Committee meeting would result in the following:

For May 2020 Property Tax Payments - the grace period for payment without interest would be extended until June 30, 2020

For the Special Assessment Payments that are due on June 1, 2020 for both the Claremont Project and the Sanitary Sewer Project, the grace period for payment without interest would be extended until July 31, 2020
