In their ongoing quest to replace Hillsborough’s natural beauty with overdevelopment and asphalt, the Township Committee voted along party lines 4-1 to abolish the Tree Mitigation Advisory Committee on Tuesday. For your readers who do not know, the Committee played a vital role in making sure builders replace trees that are removed for development.
To her enormous credit, Committeewoman Olivia Holmes stood alone in opposition to the ordinance as she continues to fight to preserve the green environment that makes Hillsborough a great place to live.
It’s also not surprising that this ordinance was passed in the relative darkness of the COVID-19 shutdown. If you’re going to do away with something that benefits everyone, best to keep folks in the dark, right? Whose interests are really being served here?
Thanks again to Olivia Holmes for doing the right thing and putting our community first.
