SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Somerset County Department of Health COVID-19 update for Wednesday shows 51 cases in Hillsborough, with a total of 23 deaths and 586 cases in the county.

The death toll overnight almost doubled, from 12 to 23; Somerset County reported 71 new cases overnight, according to the SCDOH.

The SCDOH has confirmed the deaths of six North Plainfield residents; 5 in Bridgewater and 5 in Franklin; and one in each of these towns: Bedminster, Bernards Township, Branchburg, Green Brook, Hillsborough, Peapack-Gladstone and Somerville.

Here is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases by town: Bedminster, 12 Bernardsville Borough, 18; Bernards Township, 37; Branchburg, 27; Bridgewater, 70; Bound Brook, 18: Far Hills, 2; Franklin, 133; Green Brook, 26; Hillsborough, 51; Manville, 23; Millstone, 2; Montgomery, 22; North Plainfield, 43; Peapack-Gladstone, 6; Raritan, 10; Rocky Hill, 2; Somerville, 23; South Bound Brook, 12; Warren, 25; Watchung, 19. 

Statewide, there is a total of 29,895 cases, an increase of 4,305 overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 646, an increase of 109 overnight, according to the state Department of Health.

Statewide, there is a total of 37,608 negative test results reported by the state-run and private laboratories, according to the NJDOH.

There are 245.070 cases in the United States, with 5.949 deaths; worldwide, there are now over one million cases - 1,015,403 and 53.050 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
