SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Somerset County Department of Health on Wednesday reported an additional 40 positive tests for the COVID-19 virus overnight, bringing the total number of cases to 5,942, with 519 COVID-10 deaths reported since March 8.

Hillsborough has had a total of 597 COVID-19 cases since March, with a total of 81 COVID-19 related deaths.

In New Jersey, the state Department of Health Wednesday reported a total of 232,997 positive cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began its spread in the state 237 days ago, an increase of 1.660 overnight.  There was an increase of 14 deaths overnight, bringing the state total to 14.531. There have been 4,523,611 COVID-19 tests administered in New Jersey.

The number of COVID-19 cases worldwide is now 44,378,089 including 1,174,040deaths, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control & Prevention on Wednesday morning, with 9,041,275 cases in the United States and 232.124 deaths.

The SCDOH has confirmed the deaths of 161 Franklin Township residents; 81 in Hillsborough/Millstone; 75 in Bridgewater; 42 in Bernards Township; 37 in North Plainfield; 32 in Green Brook; 14 in Watchung; 15 in Raritan; 13 in Bound Brook; 16 in Warren; 6 in Manville; 6 in Somerville; 6 in Montgomery; 6 in Branchburg; 4 in Bedminster; 3 in Bernardsville; 3 in South Bound Brook and one in Peapack-Gladstone.

No COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Far Hills, Millstone or Rocky Hill.
