Sen. Bateman Hosts Blood Drive in Somerville

SOMERVILLE, NJ  - Senator Christopher “Kip” Bateman (R-Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex, Hunterdon) is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, May 11 to collect donations for the Robert Wood Johnson Steeplechase Cancer Center.

Donors must be 17 or 16 with parental consent.

“We’ve had many successful drives in the past, with every available appointment filled. I hope we can do that again, but we need your help,” Bateman said. “This blood is desperately needed. By giving just a little blood and a little time you can help save lives.”

Bateman is a longtime blood donor and regularly hosts blood drives. Over the last 35 years, he’s donated more than 27 gallons of blood.

Bateman is scheduled to donate blood at 2:30 p.m. when the blood drive begins. It will continue through 7:30 p.m. at the Robert Wood Johnson Steeplechase Cancer Center. 30 Rehill Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876.

All donations collected through the drive will remain on campus to help people being treated at Steeplechase. That makes it easier for doctors to determine where the blood will go and how to utilize it in order to assist their cancer patients.

All donors will also be entered to win a $25 gift card.
