“I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve as Miss UNICO and honored to represent the Township of Hillsborough,” she said..

“The members of Hillsborough UNICO and I are pleased to have Miss Freda represent our local Hillsborough Chapter and continue this important tradition,” said Nate Santaromita, UNICO president.

She has a strong history of helping out her community. She has volunteered at SAVE, a local animal shelter, spending time with kittens and cleaning out their litter boxes. She also has volunteered at a local shelter, Safe+Sound Somerset. There, she did data entry and organized two different food drives.

Freda likes to stay active, as she goes to the gym once or twice a day and recently began taking Jiu Jitsu classes. She enjoys the physically-demanding martial art because it teaches her self-defense in a fun and challenging environment. When she’s not working out, she enjoys to read a good book, one of her favorite ways to unwind.

Miss UNICO is  prideful of her deep rooted Italian heritage. Her great-grandparents traveled from Naples, Italy and came to America through Ellis Island. She enjoys spending the holidays with her “loud and crazy” extended family; Christmas Eve with her dad’s side and Christmas Day with her mom’s. Additionally, she looks forward to big pasta dinners during the winter

UNICO National, founded in 1922, is the largest Italian American service organization in America, with local Chapters in 22 States across the country.  Its all-volunteer members work to support charitable, educational, scientific and literary causes while promoting Italian heritage and combating negative stereotyping.
