BRANCHBURG, NJ– Police are asking the public for help in their investigation of two car thefts early this morning in the Neshanic Station area of the township

Both vehicles were believed to have been unlocked at the time(s) that they were stolen, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Thieves have previously targeted rural areas of Branchburg and surrounding towns by specifically looking for unlocked motor vehicles, or vehicles where the keys or key fob is left inside or very near to the vehicle, Robertson said.The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and Branchburg Township Police Department remind all residents to not leave keys or key fob in vehicles and make sure to lock their vehicles even if when the vehicle is in their driveway.

Robertson asks anyone with information relating to the car thefts to contact the Branchburg Police Department at (908) 526-3830 or via the STOPit app.
