BRANCHBURG, NJ - An unidentified Hillsborough motorist struck a 39-year-old Branchburg man attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Route 202 in the vicinity of Huyler Road at 7:41 p.m. Monday night, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
The victim, Surinder Singh, was treated by first responders at the scene and transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital/Somerset in Somerville where he was pronounced dead at 9:11 p.m., according to Robertson.
The roadway was closed while a joint investigation was initiated by the Somerset Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Branchburg Township Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.
Police determined that Singh crossed the grass median and stepped into the path of a 2019 Acura operated by the Hillsborough Township resident, according to Robertson.
