SOMERVILLE, NJ – Do you ever wonder about the future of the environment?

Somerset County Freeholder Shanel Y. Robinson, human services liaison, invites all students from grades seven to 12 to attend the 23rd annual Youth Council conference titled, “There Is No PLANET B.” Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the present condition of the environment and its future as well as learn about sustainable solutions for protecting the environment.

The deadline to register is Oct. 11th, or until the conference is full.

The conference will be held from 5:30-9 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 17th, in Conference Room 1 at the Human Services Building, located at 27 Warren St.. Admission is free for participants who bring one can of food, which will be donated to a local food bank. Refreshments and free giveaways will be available.

Participants may choose to attend two of four one-hour workshops titled: “Sustainable Fashion,” “Types of Energy,” “Plastics & the Environment,” and “Factory Farming.” Moderating and presenting at the workshops will be members of the Somerset County Youth Council.

Those who participate will receive a Community Service Learning Certificate for 2½ hours, issued by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Human Services Office of Operations & Planning and the Somerset County Youth Council.
