HIGH POINT, NC - The Somerset Patriots (4-5, 46-33) bounced back with a 4-2 win over the High Point Rockers (5-5, 46-34) Saturday night at BB&T Point.
The Patriots got on the board first in the top of the fifth inning. Justin Pacchioli hit a one-out double and stole third before Yovan Gonzalez brought him home on a sacrifice fly.
One inning later, Michael Ohlman added to the Somerset lead with a two-out, two-run double. The Rockers answered in the bottom of the sixth on a pair of solo home runs from Stephen Cardullo (12) and Tyler Ladendorf (12).
The Patriots got a run back in the top of the seventh to double their lead. Craig Massey led off the inning with an infield single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, got to third on a Pacchioli infield single and raced home on the second wild pitch of the inning.
Pacchioli finished the game 3-for-4 with a run scored and a new season-high four stolen bases.
Somerset’s bullpen locked things down the rest of the way, with scoreless innings from Luis Cruz, Nate Roe and Jonathan Cheshire (S, 3).
Ryan Kussmaul (W, 3-3) struck out a season-high nine batters and allowed two runs over six innings to earn the win. Dusty Isaacs (L, 0-1) yielded a run in his lone inning of relief and was saddled with the loss.
The Patriots and Rockers conclude this weekend’s three-game series with a 2:00 pm first pitch at BB&T Point Sunday afternoon.
