HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - The indoor/outdoor Apex Sports & Events facility on Mountainview Road will host Apex Kicks Cancer: a regional soccer tournament scheduled for March 28th and 29th.

The multi-day tournament will raise funds for the American Cancer Society (ACS) and Red Card Cancer, a soccer-focused fundraising organization which supports cancer research.

“We’re thrilled to be able to host a tournament that will benefit such a deserving charity,” said Sandra Weingart, Apex general manager. “Many people have been affected by cancer in one way or another and the funds raised in this event will help the ACS continue their work to eliminate this disease. Our team is passionate about being able to make an impact in the community beyond sports and this is just the beginning. ”

The tournament will consist of two one-day events for U8-U12 soccer teams, including both 9v9 and 7v7 U.S. Soccer formats, on the brand-new turf fields at Apex. A portion of the registration fees and merchandise sales will be donated directly to ACS. Teams will also have the ability to fundraise with special event recognition to the team that raises the most money.

“We sincerely appreciate the support of Apex Sports & Events and look forward to engaging the soccer community in the fight against cancer,” said Margaret Belch, strategic director of Regional Sports & Entertainment for the American Cancer Society. “Not only will this tournament provide a great platform for competition, it also provides the opportunity for these young athletes to make a difference.”

Funds raised for ACS from Apex Kicks Cancer will support the Society’s extensive research program. Since 1946, the American Cancer Society has invested more than $4.6 billion in research. To accelerate progress against cancer – all cancers – ACS will double its annual research investment to $250 million a year by 2021.

Event registration is now open via gotsoccer.com and will remain open until Wednesday, March 18th or until flights are full.
