HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - The offensive unit of the Hillsborough Raiders football team spent most iof its time on the sidelines Friday night as the Phillipsburg Stateliners dominated the game on both sides of the ball.

The final score was Phillipsburg 56, Hillsborough 6 -- with the Raiders lone score coming on the last play of the game.

Conversely, the Stateliners scored on the first play of the game on a 64-yard pass from quarterback Jack Staggard to Ray Stern, who caught a second TD from Staggard, who who threw for 268 yards in the game with three touchdowns.

The Raiders went in to the locker room at the half down by a score of 14-0, but the wheels came off in the second half, with the Stateliners scoring another 42 unanswered points. including 21 points in a little more than five minutes at the beginning of the third quarter, with 14 of those points turnovers by the Raiders.

The Raiders turned over the ball 4 times in the game.

The Raiders are now 3-3 on the season; Phillipsburg is 5-1.

The Raiders have off next week. Their next game is Friday, Oct. 19 on the road at Linden High School;where the Tigers are 5-1 this season.
