The Road Warriors scored their final run in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by Jorge Fernandez-Diaz.

Alfredo Rodriguez’s two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning put the game away for the 6-2 final.

“I was just looking for a pitch in the zone and extend the lead,” said Rodriguez, who finished the game 3-for-3 with two RBI. “I was just looking to get us some insurance runs. [Jose Ortega] was throwing pretty hard out there and I was just looking for a pitch that I could do damage with and was able to stick with it to come through.”

The Patriots piled up 14 hits against the Road Warriors.

Aaron Laffey (1-0) picked up the win, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings pitched. David Perez (0-3) suffered the loss, allowing four runs- three earned- on eight hits in 3.2 innings pitched.
