HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Senior members of the Hillsborough High School lacrosse team were joined by three other central New Jersey boys' and girls' squads Friday night to celebrate their truncated seasons and be recognized for their high school careers.

Apex Sports & Events hosted their final games and recognition ceremony at the complex on Mountainview Road.

“These seniors had their season cut short earlier in the year and Apex had the opportunity to bring that back for them.” said Sandra Weingart, Apex Sports & Events general manager. “Especially during this time of ambiguity and confinement, the Apex team felt that it was important to do everything possible to give back and foster goodwill in our surrounding communities.”

The Apex Senior Send Off Event consisted of a Senior Recognition and Rose Ceremony followed by two exhibition games between Hillsborough High School and Delaware Valley Regional High School Boys Lacrosse, and Bernards High School and Mountain Lakes Girls Lacrosse.

“To have the guys out here just one last time means the world to me and I know it means the world to our seniors,” Hillsborough High School Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Nick Angrisani said. “Obviously the fact that our season was take away from us is pretty devastating to everybody, whether you are a coach, a parent, or a player, so having this opportunity to play out here one more time with your brothers is something special.”

Delaware Valley Head Coach Andrew Niebuhr said “While nothing will replace the loss of the 2020 season for any of us your event last night gave our parents, coaches, and seniors the closure we all needed and a glimpse of what could have been a decent season.”
