Hillside, NJ – ShopRite of Hillside’s new Registered Dietitian Robin Bach knows it can be a challenge for parents to keep their kids from dipping into the candy jar around Halloween. That’s why she devised three tips to ensure this Halloween is a healthy one.
Bach’s tips for a healthy Halloween include:
- Have a good meal, like soup and sandwiches, before going out trick or treating to avoid snacking along the way.
- Walk instead of drive to different neighborhoods to work in some physical activity.
- After trick or treating, separate candy at home and divide it up so everyone can enjoy it in moderation for weeks to come.
Bach, who recently joined the supermarket’s health and wellness team, also offers an array of ongoing free nutrition services. She provides store tours and cooking demonstrations along with complimentary one-on-one counseling services for customers and associates. She can help customers navigate the aisles to help them better understand food labels.
“Ms. Bach and all of ShopRite’s Registered Dietitians can help parents navigate trick or treating and Halloween, a time when kids are tempted to eat too many sweets,” said Natalie Menza-Crowe, MS, RD, Director of Health & Wellness at ShopRite. “We’re excited that Ms. Bach has joined our team of dietitians, and will be helping parents through the Halloween holiday to make sure kids are still eating healthy and nutritious meals.”
Bach, who is a long-time resident of Belleville NJ, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a concentration in dietetics from Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ. She formerly worked as a Nutrition Educator and Farmers Market Assistant at City Green in Clifton, NJ, and as a Teacher’s Assistant at Montclair State University.
In her spare time, Bach enjoys practicing yoga, spending time outdoors and cooking.
