A sincere THANK YOU to those who attended JAZZ IN THE SANCTUARY  during the 2019 season.  We sincerely appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you as we open the 2020 season.  We invite you to join us as we kickoff the new season with performances by acclaimed drummer Vince Ector and his trio, and Plainfield’s own PAAAS Jazz Ensemble.

Vince Ector is an accomplished musician and dedicated educator.  He is currently a Lecturer of Jazz Percussion at Princeton University and on the faculty of Jazz Kids at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.  In addition he is the founder and Executive Director of “Arts for Kids”, a non-profit Arts-In-Education company providing workshops, performances and professional development in Music, Dance, Drama, Visual Art and Technology for schools and community based organizations.  Vince is in demand as a recording musician and as a performer at jazz festivals throughout the world.  He has performed and/or recorded with jazz icons such as Freddie Hubbard,  Lou Donaldson, James Moody, Grover Washington Jr., Slide Hampton, and Jimmy Heath, to name a few.

We are also excited to present a special guest performance by the PAAAS Jazz Ensemble under the leadership of director Gregory O. Williams.  The Ensemble is made up of students at the Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Advanced Studies.   These talented young people have represented Plainfield in various statewide jazz competitions and received numerous honors.  In addition to performing at local events they have been invited guests at “Jazz at Lincoln Center”.

This concert will take place at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 29 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 515 W. 4th St., Plainfield, NJ.  As always, there is no charge for admission.  However, a Free Will Offering will be raised.  So please spread the word, join us and bring a friend.   You’ll be glad you did!
