Celia Fernandez, a breast cancer survivor, has been an owner-operator of Prestige Auto-Wash along with her brother Frank, sister-in-law Marilyn and husband Lou. Prestige has four car wash locations; two in Hillside, on 1521 North Broad Street and 1357 Liberty Avenue with a Mobil 1 Quick-Lube Center.  The other two are located on 323 Rahway Avenue, Elizabeth and 515 Lehigh Avenue, Union.

Supporting breast cancer awareness has been her main objective since being diagnosed back in 2007. With the support from family, friends, and the American Cancer Society, she made it through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. This October 2019, will be her 12th year as a survivor and 11th year raising money for the American Cancer Society’s fight against breast cancer.

Many customers of Prestige have come up to her personally throughout the years thanking her and sharing their own stories. Inspired by her customers, Celia wanted to bring this event locally to the Township of Hillside.  She feels very honored and would like to thank Mayor Dahlia O. Vertreese, Business Administrator Hope Smith, the Health Department as well as other departments and dedicated township volunteers for agreeing to support this very special cause.

Mayor Dahlia O. Vertreese and Celia Fernandez would greatly appreciate your support in making this Second Annual Pink Shuffle on the Hillside a huge success.  Please register to join us on Saturday October 5, 2019.  Bring your family and friends; form a team and show your PINK colors when we all walk and dance to the Cupid Shuffle.
