UNION COUNTY, NJ — The county announced Sunday that its COVID-19 drive-through test center at Kean University is modifying its hours this week.
The test center will be open Monday, 9 a.m. — 2 p.m. It will also be open Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. — noon. Persons who cannot make the new hours must reschedule, officials said. They can do so at this link.
Anyone who has an appointment for those days will have their appointment honored during these hours, the officials said. Tests at the Union County COVID-19 test center are free for residents of the county, as are the screenings offered by the county’s mobile testing units.
The county is changing the hours as part of a rebalancing of its operations for this week, Union County spokesman Sebastian D'Elia said. The hours may change again next week, D'Elia said.
The state’s COVID-19 dashboard showed a cumulative 55,304 Union County coronavirus cases, with 114 new cases reported Sunday, inclusive of both PCR and rapid test results.
The state figures showed two of New Jersey’s 52 cases of the more highly contagious B117 variant of coronavirus were located within Union County.
As of Sunday, the variant had spread to 12 of the state’s 21 counties, the dashboard data show.
In Union County, 80,531 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered, including about 24,290 of which were second doses, according to the state data.
