WASHINGTON, DC, - Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ-08), issued a statement Friday thanking Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen for his nation’s donation of an additional two million surgical to the United States “to help protect our frontline medical workers who put themselves at risk to treat COVID-19 patients.” 100,000 of these masks, Sires said, will be delivered to New Jersey.
The donation is on top of the 100,000 face masks that Taiwan is providing the United States each week, Sires, who also serves as Co-Chair of the House Congressional Caucus, added.
“Taiwan’s willingness to not only provide equipment, but lessons they have learned from their own battles with COVID-19 is greatly appreciated,” Sires said. “In our time of need, Taiwan has once again proven to be a steadfast ally that we can rely on for assistance and expertise.”
