HOBOKEN - A speeding driver found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, going the wrong way early this morning.

At 12:58 a.m. on Tuesday, Lieutenant James Peck observed a red Cadillac traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Newark Avenue in Hoboken. Moments later, Lieutenant Peck notified dispatchers that the vehicle had crashed in the area of 256 Newark Street, having crossed Willow Avenue at a point where Newark Street turns into a one way street for westbound traffic.

The Cadillac traveled the wrong way on a one way street when it crashed into three parked vehicles. Lieutenant Michael Costello, Officer Christopher Barral, and Officer Joshua Campoverde arrived and pulled the driver out of the vehicle for his safety.

The operator of the vehicle was taken to a safe area where he was treated for his injuries by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corp, then transported to Jersey City Medical Center. The driver, a male, was issued two motor vehicle summonses—Reckless Driving and Wrong Way on a One Way.

Blood samples were taken, and the Hudson County Regional Crash team continues its investigation.
