HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - A weather system featuring a wintry mix will head into Northern New Jersey during the day on Tuesday. Hoboken and Jersey City are preparing for the impact, with both municipalities canceling street cleaning for the day.
"Due to the anticipated inclement weather, street sweeping will be suspended on Tuesday, January 26," said the City of Hoboken. "All other rules and regulations will remain in effect. Street sweeping will resume on Wednesday, January 27."
"Due to the forecasted winter weather, street sweepers and alternate side parking are suspended today, Tuesday, January 26," said Jersey City officials.
Although not expected to be a major snow event (1-3 inches), projected accumulations of ice will make roads rather slick in our area. The National Weather Service is predicting hazardous travel conditions—particularly on untreated roads and sidewalks. The system will likely start as snow Tuesday morning, then transition to sleet and freezing rain as the day progresses.
