HOBOKEN — Jet.com, the online retailer once looking to go toe-to-toe with Amazon after setting up its corporate headquarters on the Hoboken Waterfront, will reportedly be "discontinued" by Walmart.
"Due to continued strength of the Walmart.com brand, the company will discontinue Jet.com," according to an earnings release from Walmart. "The acquisition of Jet.com nearly four years ago was critical to accelerating our omni strategy."
At one point, Jet.com occupied 80,000 square feet of office space on the Hoboken Waterfront, paving the way for other major commercial real estate moves to the scenic west bank of the Hudson.
No word yet on what the brand's discontinuation will mean for Hoboken employees or the office space.
