HOBOKEN - Governor Murphy announced Monday that we can eat... outside.

During his daily COVID-19 briefing, Murphy stated that outdoor dining will return to the Garden State, effective June 15. "I would think restaurants, outdoor dining will probably have some of the elements we’ve spoken to," said the Governor.

Here in Hoboken, the City claims it is continuing to encourage establishments to apply to expand outdoor capacity—utilizing existing space or taking advantage of parklets, streateries, and open streets.

"We recognize that restaurants want to re-open indoors," said Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, "but we will be required to operate on the restrictions imposed by the State."

Information on the application process for bar and restaurant owners can be found HERE. Sources have expressed frustration over communication lags in application process to date, but are hoping that Murphy's statement may give way to a more fluid process between now and June 15.

The Hoboken Business Alliance has centralized online resources for the reopening of local venues, while members of the Economic Recovery Task Force, have put together a pragmatic list of industry specific re-opening guidelines.
