HOBOKEN, NJ - A 31- year-old Massachusetts man was under arrest Tuesday after allegedly punching and robbing a Hoboken man, according to the Hoboken Police Department.

In a report police stated that Officer Joseph DiMartino responded to the area of 6th and Washington Street at approximately 1:15 p.m. where he met the victim.

The victim stated he was standing in front of 615 Washington Street waiting for his wife and talking on his cell phone when an unknown male approached him from the right and punched him in the face. The assailant reportedly grabbed the victim's cell phone out of his hand and threatened to cause him harm if he followed. The suspect then ran away, and while the victim chased after him, the suspect threw the cell phone back at the victim.

Apparently the phone still worked, because the victim immediately called the police. After a description of the suspect was given over the police radio, Officer Anthony Rutkowski stopped Martin Puello, 31, of Lawrence, MA in the area of 62 Hudson Street.

Puello was arrested and charged with Robbery and Terroristic Threats. Both charges were placed on a warrant and Puello was committed to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

The defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
