HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken Police were busy this week making a number of heroin arrests in different parts of town.
On Sunday, May 3, Officer Mark Mullins was in the area of 301 Jackson Street when he noticed an individual engaging in suspicious behavior, allegedly attempting to purchase illegal narcotics. Officer Mullins circled the block in his marked radio car and caught up with Jason Rubin, 36, Hoboken, in the area of 333 Monroe Street. An investigation revealed that Rubin was in possession of 13 wax folds believed to contain heroin. Rubin was arrested and charged with Possession of CDS Heroin and Defiant Trespassing. Both charges went on a summons and Rubin was released after being processed.
Sergeant William Collins and Detective Fabian Quinones conducted an investigation and identified the seller, Jeffrey Ferguson, 27, of Hoboken. On Thursday, May 07, at about 7:56 PM, D/Sgt. William Collins, Det. Fabian Quinones, Officer Connor Milne, Officer Marc Lombardi, and Officer Shelby Seickendick arrested Ferguson, who was charged with Sale of CDS Heroin, Sale of CDS Heroin within 500 Feet of a Public Housing, Sale of CDS Heroin within 1000 Feet of a School Zone. Ferguson’s charges were placed on a warrant.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, May 06, Sergeant Nicholas Burke responded to the parking lot of Walgreens 1300 Willow Avenue on a concerned citizen reporting a male sleeping in a motor vehicle at 8:42 a.m. Sergeant Burke located a silver Chevrolet with a male in the driver’s seat who appeared to be sleeping. The male was identified as Russell Furino, 26, Hoboken, who was woken up asked to step out of the vehicle. Sgt. Burke found two syringes in plain view with one of the syringes filled with a liquid believed to be heroin. Furino was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters, charged on a summons with Possession of CDS suspect Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Furino was also issued a motor vehicle summons for Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle.
Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
