HOLMDEL, N.J. - The new tradition of the Holmdel Senior Walk continued Tuesday to laughter, cheers and tears. Holmdel's Class of 2018 took one of the most meaningful strolls of their life through, well, their lives. They traveled through time to visit all the schools of their K-12 career. While still young today, they were oh so young in Kindergarten. Holmdel schools shared information about the event.

The Holmdel High School Class of 2018 took a walk through each of the district’s schools to commemorate the journey that led them to reach this important moment in their lives. The senior class boarded school buses, wearing their caps and gowns, and visited Village School (grades PK-3), Indian Hill School (grades 4-6) and the William R. Satz School (grades 7-8) to process through the hallway, symbolically retracing their K-12 footsteps.  Schools across the country have started practicing this tradition, with the idea that the “Senior Walk” will inspire younger students to succeed in school and achieve their dreams. This is the second year Holmdel’s graduates took the “Senior Walk.”

The “Senior Walk” is also an opportunity for the entire school community to participate in the district’s “send off” of its graduates. Students and staff in each of the schools lined the hallways to cheer on the Class of 2018! “I can’t think of a better way for all of us to congratulate our graduating seniors and to celebrate the end of another great school year for our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert McGarry. Senior and Student Representative to the Board of Education Hamzah Shaikh remarked prior to the walk that “the seniors are looking forward to seeing all of our teachers all the way back from elementary school, and thanking them for being part of such an incredible journey.” “I hope Holmdel High School can continue this wonderful tradition for many years to come,” he added.

Past the corridors of their youth, the next generation of young adults were able to both share their thanks to their former teachers and also have the unique opportunity to say hello to the new students paving their own path to the future. See video as they walk into Village School:
