COLTS NECK, N.J. - Colts Neck, one of the few rural communities left in Monmouth County that enjoys scenic views, vistas and a way of life that quickly reminds one of of how things used to be. So much of what is seen and experienced comes down to sound land use.

Many nearby towns did not and still don't understand the comprehensive density impacts that installation of sewer systems can have on a municipality. This has impacted Colts Neck's sister town, Holmdel, in significant and permanent ways. The impact of Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) and other related traffic and transit issues have become far more acute in Holmdel. Not so in Colts neck, to their credit.

Certainly an area of commerce as well as it can easily be seen by visiting and simply driving down the Route 34 corridor. You are met with a blend of the classic and rustic, coupled with the new and dynamic. This is not by chance. It is through sound land use planning over the years.
