HOLMDEL, NJ - Committeeman Dr. Rocco Pascucci stormed out of the public meeting last night.

He called for a vote to build a new firehouse building on the grounds of a currently preserved farm called F and F nurseries.

Pascucci said "I don't think we need any more public opinion...it's time to move your butts guys". He then challenged Nikolis firefighting background and that Nikolis would soon be off the dais. You can view the disruptive actions here: (courtesy CILU) starts at 17:50.

F and F nurseries is located in southern Holmdel across from the Falcons Ridge residential development and also borders Roberts Road.

Supporters of the location stated that it would be built in an area on the farm behind berms so you cant see the building while the sirens and the noise from the firetrucks and its impact on the residential neighborhoods was more relevant to some.

Committeeman Pascucci was able to gain the support during the meeting from Committeeman Greg Bontempo who wants to serve as Mayor in 2020.

I During the roll call, Bontempo voted ‘yes’, Mayor Hinds and Committeeman Critelli voted ‘no’

Dr. Pascucci lost a key supporter in Deputy Mayor Mike Nikolis who broke away and would not vote without more information.

This didn't sit very well with Dr. Pascucci who abruptly stood up and left the building. (see video).

Dr. Pascucci recently led the charge to censure Mayor Eric Hinds for a sports field that was listed on the agenda for consideration at a prior meeting. Hinds filed a lawsuit on the issue last week.

Ironically, the vote that angered Pascucci on the F&F nursery site for a new firehouse was not on the official agenda at all.

It is anticipated that the committee will continue to discuss a potential location for a new firehouse after they reorganize for 2020 currently Committeeman Buontempo supports building the fire house on the farm.  It remains to be seen whether the new Township committee organization will support that location or the other location which is near town hall next to other commercial structures in the existing Holmdel First Aid building.
