HOLMDEL, NJ - The extra stop signs are not up yet but that will soon change as a four way stop is on the way at an intersection considered dangerous for years.
It's hard to believe that almost three years passed since a local dad nearly lost his life at the intersection of Takolusa Drive and Telegraph Hill Road. The wheels of Holmdel government finally moved and on Tuesday as they unanimously passed the ordinance to add stop signs. Santhana and Weber are new to the Township Committee this year.
It's a location that many drivers feel unsafe passing through. Sadly, it is often only a terrible accident that fosters change in traffic safety.
New multidirectional stop signs will be installed, typically after a notification period, at the intersection at Telegraph Hill Road - Holland Road and South Holland Road - Takolusa Drive.
The Township committee held the public hearing on the ordinance to take final action on the modification of the traffic pattern. There were no comments from the public.
You can view the Township Committee taking action on their Facebook Page Here the discussion is at minute 11:00
Another proposed alternative is a roundabout that had some support with the Holmdel Police Department, according to the public meeting. That would be a discussion for some time in the future.
