HHS Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) Celebrates Another Successful Year

Holmdel High School PTSO Celebrates Year Credits: Jeanne Wall

HOLMDEL, NJ: On Monday, June 12th, at 9:30 am, the members of The Holmdel High School (HHS) Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) met to celebrate the success of another great school year.

The meeting was held at the Middletown Pancake House, on Route 35 south, in Middletown. The PTSO Executive Board, joined by many parent volunteer members, enjoyed breakfast and coffee, while discussing accomplishments made, and setting the goals for next year.

Many parent volunteers thanked PTSO president, Melissa Mohr for her hard work and unyielding dedication to Holmdel's children. Mohr says, " I am the one that is very thankful to have such an amazing group of parents, who work tirelessly for the common goal of enhancing the learning and social experiences for all of our children in Holmdel High School. It's been a successful year and we are looking forward to doing many more great things for the Holmdel community."

A significant annually budgeted item discussed at the meeting was Project Graduation. This is a popular nonprofit event, paid for in total by donations and money raised by the PTSO. The event provides HHS graduating seniors a safe, alcohol and substance free, all night dance party, beginning at 9:45 pm on the night of graduation.  There's great food and a variety of fun entertainment. When the sun is almost ready to come up, the event culminates with a celebratory breakfast for all of the graduates. This year's Project Graduation is scheduled for June 22, at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan, NJ.

Some additional recent programs and gifts provided from the PTSO this past year include; various scholarships to seniors, a comfortable student lounge in the lower commons complete with charging stations, portable sound systems, free healthy grab and go snacks during finals, teacher appreciation luncheons, etc.

Susan Gordon, PTSO VP of Fundraising says "Our PTSO is a great platform to connect the Parents, Teachers and Students in their common goal to maintain excellence at Holmdel High School. The HHS PTSO supports the many student managed initiatives, and also those of outside organizations, that further assist this common goal."

Along with fundraising and supporting each HHS class and the faculty, the PTSO strives to increase membership and have more families excited about our Holmdel community!
