SPOTSWOOD, NJ - It was a tough afternoon on the gridiron for the Spotswood High School varsity football team on Saturday, September 16 as the three time defending Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division champs dropped their second straight game of the season to Holmdel High School, 45-7. Holmdel's record is now two wins and one loss.

Nick Vincelli opened the scoring for Spotswood with a one-yard touchdown run. However, that would be the last time the Chargers would see points on the scoreboard for the rest of the contest. Jeff DeCicco tied the game in the first quarter on a nine-yard touchdown run. Then, Nick Fanzini blocked a punt return, returning it for a Holmdel touchdown. The Hornets never looked back from that point, adding 28 points in the second quarter.

DeCicco had a big day for Holmdel, scoring three touchdowns. He also threw two touchdown passes to Alex Galarza. Alex Unanski added a third quarter field goal for Holmdel, which would be the final points of the day.
