HOLMDEL 2020 INITIATIVE REFERENDUM WEBSITE LAUNCHED
HOLMDEL (August 1, 2017) – In recognition of the fact that 21st century learning takes place in an entirely new manner, and with new tools, techniques, and teaching methods that often do not fit within the simplistic designs of 20th century school facilities, the Holmdel Board of Education is putting forth a forward-thinking set of projects for a public referendum vote on September 26, 2017. Collectively, the project has been dubbed the the Holmdel 2020 Initiative, to coincide with its intended completion date.
The result of more than a year of collective efforts, this 40.3 million dollar referendum is designed to enhance the district’s academic, athletic and arts infrastructure, and as a result, programs at all levels, with a special emphasis on updating the William R. Satz School, which opened to Holmdel students in 1968.
To assist the community in learning more about the initiative, the school district today launched the Holmdel 2020 Initiative website, a comprehensive resource that the community may use to learn more about the vision, intended projects, programmatic enhancements, costs and other information.
“We are at a critical moment for our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert McGarry. “We can’t allow aging and outdated facilities to place limits on what our students are capable of achieving, whether it be in a science lab, a media center, or on a playing field, track or tennis court” he added.
“The kinds of innovative facilities that the Holmdel 2020 Initiative will offer will help us continue to elevate all students to higher levels as well as help us maintain our status as one of the premier school districts in the state,” added new Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Dineen Seeley.
