HOLMDEL, N.J - Good News for Hobby Lobby Fans...Hobby Lobby is now open on route 35 north, in Holmdel's Towne Center, and shoppers are already enjoying great savings and special deals today.
On this coming Monday, a few minutes before 9:00 A.M., Hobby Lobby Management, Local Officials and other dignitaries as well as members of the The Monmouth Chamber and The Holmdel Chamber of Commerce (http://www.holmdelchamber.com), along with interested shoppers can experience the official ribbon cutting for the new Holmdel store! Although the Holmdel Hobby Lobby has been busy with shoppers and great deals the past few days, the official Grand Opening is set to begin a few minutes before 9:00 AM on Monday. Then a few minutes later, the doors will open for business as usual with great deals on many amazing items. Hobby Lobby is really not comparable to any other single store. Rather it's like the convergence of the best craft and hobby stores you can think of joined together with very up to date houseware and furniture items, mix in some great baby gifts, seasonal and fabric departments... and voila; Hobby Lobby!
So what is the history behind this unique creation:
In 1970, David and Barbara Green took out a $600 loan to begin making miniature picture frames out of their home. Two years later, the fledgling enterprise opened a 300-square-foot store in Oklahoma City, and Hobby Lobby was born. Today, with more than 750 stores, Hobby Lobby is the largest privately owned arts-and-crafts retailer in the world with approximately 32,000 employees and operating in forty-seven states.
TAPinto Holmdel and Colts Neck connected with Bob Miller, Communications Coordinator for Hobby Lobby and asked, "what attracted Hobby Lobby to Holmdel?"
“Hobby Lobby is constantly looking for new locations to better serve our customers. We have had our eye on Holmdel for a while and believe it is a great fit,” said Bob Miller, Communication Coordinator for Hobby Lobby. “We are excited to open a store in Holmdel and look forward to becoming a part of the community.”
Hobby Lobby is much more than an Arts and Crafts store, however. It is a philosophy borne of faith, service to others and being good stewards of their local communities. According to their website:
We are committed to:
Honoring the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with Biblical principles.
Offering our customers exceptional selection and value.
Serving our employees and their families by establishing a work environment and company policies that build character, strengthen individuals, and nurture families.
Providing a return on the family’s investment, sharing the Lord’s blessings with our employees, and investing in our community.
Hobby Lobby puts their faith out front in communications with positive messaging in their communications:
May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you. Psalm 25.21 NLT
Hobby Lobby is primarily an arts-and-crafts store but also includes hobbies, picture framing, jewelry making, fabrics, floral and wedding supplies, cards and party ware, baskets, wearable art, home accents and holiday merchandise.
The Holmdel store is located in the 56,000 square foot building formerly occupied by A&P Supermarket at Route 35 and Laurel Avenue in Holmdel Towne Center. The location is bringing about 35-50 jobs to the community. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 8:00pm. All Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday.
Affiliated companies include Hemispheres, carrying unique home furnishings and accessories from around the world, and Mardel Christian and Education Supply, offering books, Bibles, gifts, church and education supplies as well as homeschooling curriculum. Hobby Lobby also maintains offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Yiwu, China.
"The success of our stores in New Jersey is a good indicator that Holmdel shoppers will be pleased with the quality, selection and value we offer in the craft and home decor market," stated Kelly Black, Director of Advertising. "New customers and customers already familiar with the Hobby Lobby shopping experience are eagerly anticipating this store opening."
That time has come.
Each store offers more than 70,000 crafting and home decor products.
