Holmdel's Cross Farm Park Opens New All Abilities Playground and Splashpad

Holmdel, NJ: August 8th marked the unveiling of a new playground and splashpad at Cross Farm Park, off of Longbridge Road in Holmdel. The all abilities playground is handicapped accessible, and has a soft turf bottom offering a safer and cleaner play environment for all children.

The adjacent splashpad is fun and refreshing and is easy play for the little ones. The water is not continuously running, which adds to the children's excitement because they enjoy activating the spray with the push of a button.

The new addition to the park was a joint effort between Holmdel Township and Monmouth County. Holmdel Township Committeeman Eric Hinds says, "I'm thrilled we can improve Cross Farm Park and offer some extra amenities for the families in our community."

The new play areas are conveniently located right near the pavilion and restroom area of the park. A family can bring a picnic for everyone to enjoy in the pavilion, and then simply walk a few steps to the new play areas!  Many families already spend countless hours at Cross Farm Park for practice and games, and now there is something else to enjoy while they are there.

Jessica Carle of Holmdel who was enjoying the new playground and splashpad with her two young children said, "I think it's a wonderful addition to the community. We've only lived here a few years and we find Monmouth County so family friendly and enjoyable with all of the wonderful parks and this is just another example of that."

The play areas are designed so that it is easy for children to go back and forth from the spraypad to the playground, while their parents can easily keep an eye on them, even while seated in the shade of the pavilion--very convenient! Many children brought small buckets which made for extra fun on the spraypad.  The only complaints loudly heard by all were the protests from children when it was time to leave.  The new Cross Farm Parks play areas are parent and child approved! A great addition to Holmdel parks!

Note to parents to manage expectations: This is a very fun, beautifully designed playground with the bonus of a nice small spraypad. If you are looking for the spraypark/sprayground experience, also with an adjacent accessible playground, the great go to is DorBrook in Colts Neck. We are very fortunate to have so many great parks in our community.
